Pirates Of The Caribbeans: Honduras Island

Unfortunately, my trip around the Caribbean islands has come to an end (although I still have many pictures to show you).  Now I will be staying in Miami for a week where I will greet the new year. Before I do that though, here are some shots I took while in Honduras. Besides being a true terrestrial paradise, in the past, the island became famous for serving as a refuge to some of the most notorious pirates. In fact, before we approached the port, it was already possible to see some of the wrecks of ancient naval ships spread around the city. My first thought was all about that hot-looking guy of Johnny Depp playing the goofy Jack Sparrow. Unluckily for me though, I didn’t meet any interesting pirate along the way. Before heading to the beach to sunbathe under the sun, we went to visit the natural park of the islands, populated by some typical animals such as blue-winged butterflies, monkeys, racoons, and snakes. I asked our guide if I could hold the racoon for a while, but she advised me not to, as she told me that in reality, racoons are very mean animals… Her revelation left me heart-broken: I mean, wouldn’t you just feel like cuddling it too by looking at these pictures?

Purtroppo il mio viaggio per i Caraibi é terminato, ora mi aspetta una settimana a Miami dove festeggeró anche l’ultimo dell’anno. Come al solito ho ancora tantissime foto ancora da mostrarvi, queste sono quelle scattate in Honduras, per la precisione a Roatan. L’isola, oltre a essere un altro paradiso terrestre, in passato fu’ rifugio di uno dei pirati piú famosi e ricercati al mondo, infatti poco prima di attraccare giá si riuscivano a vedere i resti di diversi relitti sparsi attorno all’ísola. Ovviamente il mio primo pensiero é andato a Jack Sparrow e a quel figo di Johnny Depp ma purtroppo per me, non ho incrociato nessun pirata degno di nota! Prima di goderci la spiaggia e sdraiarmi come una lucertola al sole, siamo andati a visitare un parco naturale al centro dell’isola, dove oltre a vedere gli animali tipici del luogo, come scimmie, procioni e serpenti c’era anche un farfallario e una specie di mix tra un ratto e coniglio….un essere davvero particolare. Volevo anche scattare una foto con una scimmia sulla spalla ma non credo di essergli stata molto simpatica, la cosa era reciproca d’altronde, e cosí ho rinunciato. Ci sono rimasta malissimo quando dopo aver chiesto se potevo prendere in braccio il procione, la nostra guida mi ha spiegato che in realtá é un animale cattivo e non proprio tenero come sembra… Cattivo o no, dalla foto non verrebbe voglia di coccolarlo anche a voi??
