Everything you need to know about the Iconic Chanel 2.55 {Tutto Ció da Sapere Sulla Chanel 2.55}

You can’t talk about it as “a bag” because it’s THE bag. One of the most iconic and elegant bags of all the time. I believe the Chanel 2.55 will never be out of fashion, in one way or the other it will always be the perfect accessory for every look.

But are we really sure we know everything about one of the most famous must-have of every Fashionista?

1. The bag was born with the goal to be an elegant and practical bag: the perfect substitute of a clutch only, with chains!

2. It was called 2.55 after the date of its creation, February 1955.

3. Initially, the first models were in Jersey, later they introduced caviar leather.

4. Karl Lagerfeld changed some little things about the basic Chanel 2.55 model. One of the most evident was the replacement of the “Mademoiselle lock” with the “Double C Lock” with the iconic double C logo.

5. They say that the classic Matelasse pattern was inspired by different sources: by jockeys’ riding coats, by the stained-glass windows of the abbey at Aubazine and also by the cushions in Chanel’s Paris apartment.

6. The lining’s burgundy color represents the color of the uniforms at the convent where she grew up.

7. The classic chains, one of the most recognizable elements of the brand, reminded her of her orphanage keeper’s keyring. 

8. They say Coco stored her lover's letters inside the pocket of the bag.

9. In the back pocket instead, she used to put coins and money.

Non e’ definibile come “una borsa”, e’ piu’ che altro LA borsa. Una delle piu’ iconiche e eleganti di tutti i tempi. Non credo che la Chanel 2.55 passera’ mai di moda, in una modo o nell’altro restera’ comunque sempre attualissima per qualsiasi look. 

Ma siamo sicuri di sapere proprio tutto sul Must Have di tutte le Fashoniste?

1. Nasce con l’obbiettivo di essere una borsa elegante e pratica, la perfetta alternativa ad un clutch ma provvista di tracolla!

2. Il nome e’ un abbreviativo del mese e dell’anno di creazione: Febraio 1955. 

3. Inizialmente i primi modelli furono in Jersey, in seguito fu introdotta la pelle d’agnello.

4. Karl Lagerfeld apporto’ piccole modifiche al modello base della 2.55 e una delle piu’ evidenti fu la sostituzione del “Mademoiselle lock” rettangolare con il “Double C Lock”, ovvero la chiusura a doppia C.

5. Si dice che il classico pattern Matelasse della 2.55 fu creato prendendo spunto da diversi elementi della vita di Coco: dai giubotti che indossavano gli uomini nelle scuderie che Coco osservava quando si recava alle piste da corsa,  alle vetrate colorate del collegio dove era cresciuta e infine ai cuscini nel suo appartamento a Parigi.

6. L’interno bordeaux dell’iconica borsa si ispira alle divise che Coco indossava nell’orfanatrofio che frequentava quando era bambina.

7. Si dice che nella tasca sotto la patta di chiusura Coco riponesse le lettere dei suoi numerosi amanti.

8. Il taschino posteriore invece le era utile per conservare monete e soldi.
